Job 42:16-17King James Version (KJV)
16 After this lived Job an hundred and forty years, and saw his sons, and his sons' sons, even four generations.
1) Four generations, not one.. I think I need a lie down.

Active JW's, can you defend "THE TRUTH?"
by DATA-DOG inas of yet, no member of the jehovah's witness faith can defend their unique beliefs.
when the dust settles, it all comes down to blind faith in men's ever-changing ideas.

And how can the overlapping teaching be true if it isn't found in Gods Word?.. (referring to criteria 1. I sense that DD is getting peeved that I have taken things off topic. Sorry.)

While I'm waiting to hear Heavensgates reply about the overlapping, I wanted to make one quick point. I'm glad that we don't speculate on the date of Armageddon any longer. At least we can no longer be accused of date setting. There is some fine counsel in this Watchtower..
Wt 6/15 1962 p.380-383
"Likewise it is possible to spend valuable time speculating on matters concerning the future. One might ask, In what year will Armageddon begin?...Jehovah has not provided answers at this time. Do you think it wise for Christians to take time from more profitable Bible study to speculate on the answers? Consider the dangers...involves more than saving time. It may save your life...Personal theories can cause division of thought..By setting up hypothetical situations and then speculating..are we not in fact adding to Jehovahs words?..We cannot worship Jehovah in spirit and in truth if our worship is based on speculation. Truth and theory are not synonymous. "
And also this one..
“Is the Judge of all the earth not going to do what is right?( Gen. 18:25)
Abraham posed this rhetorical question to Jehovah at the time of God’s judgment of Sodom and Gomorrah. Abraham considered it unthinkable that Jehovah could ever act unjustly—putting the righteous to death with the wicked. Abraham’s question reflects his deep faith in Jehovah’s righteousness.
Today, some may be inclined to speculate about matters regarding Jehovah’s future judgments, such as who exactly will survive Armageddon or who will receive a resurrection. Rather than allowing such thoughts to disturb us, we can recall Abraham’s question."

Very interesting, thank you.. And a scriptural example of an overlapping generation? I'll read your reply tomorrow.

Matthew 10:23: "Jesus' saying here is probably best understood as referring to his coming in judgment on the Jews when Jerusalem and the temple were destroyed in A.D. 70." (Matt 10:23)
..I'll think about what you said though. At least you guys reply in a straightforward way. Need to sleep, and I must stop posting. Night. -

What did Heavensgate mean, though?
And why can't anyone explain the overlapping generations without reading it straight from the Watchtower? Anyway, good night. -

Dismissing servant:
"w77 3/1 pp. 159-160 Questions From Readers
What did Jesus mean when he told his apostles that some of them would see him coming in his kingdom before they died?
But how were Jesus’ words in Matthew 16:25 fulfilled? Often the meaning of a verse is suggested by its context. In this case, all three Gospel accounts of Jesus’ promise about seeing him in his kingdom lead immediately into the record of the transfiguration.
About a week after saying what he did at Matthew 16:28, Jesus took "some of" the apostles (Peter, James and John) up on a lofty mountain, likely Mount Hermon. There he was transfigured to appear in a vision with Moses and Elijah. And God said: "This is my Son, the one that has been chosen. Listen to him."—Luke 9:28-35; Matt. 17:1-5; Mark 9:2-6.
The transfiguration was a vision of Jesus in Kingdom power and heavenly glory, as Peter later confirmed...
So,it appears that when Jesus said that before they died some of the apostles would see him in his kingdom, he was referring to the transfiguration scene that some of them witnessed shortly afterward." -

Awake 69:"this corrupt System is due to end in a few years."
..Heavensgate:"It was not meant as a literal interpretation..
People with a clear understanding wouldn’t have bothered with the seminally controversial last portion of that paragraph. 'System is due to end in a few years.' This is obviously an oversight of the writer back then."
..I think I understand you here. The Faithful Slave allowed a statement to be published with the wrong wording. They said few when they clearly meant to say in the near but undetermined future. Is that it, in a nutshell?
Heavensgate: "Is it false? NO. Even Jesus was proclaiming the End Times in his era."..You seem to be making less sense now. Are you saying here that Jesus said the end was going to come within a generation, and then it didn't happen?? Can you explain the comparison to Jesus Christ, please? Thanks for the reply, I really hope you can give a clear explanation of the overlapping generation teaching from the Bible, if you get time to. -

No, I don't agree that he is a troll. He is clearly a fellow Witness of Jehovah, and calling our doctrine 'stupid' or his discussion 'insane' is both unkind and unhelpful.
I'm waiting for him to reply, insulting each other just goes to show why more witnesses don't post here. Heavensgate, can you reply to me when you get chance? Thanks.
